SPECIAL NOTICE: 2-11-2019
Hello W28 Users and Valued Customers:
As you know this week’s snowstorms have been the most significant in years. We have not had enough snow to need to plow the runway at any point during the last 3 years. We currently have about 16 inches covering all surfaces on the airport. We have plowed the road to the airport T-hangars and parking lot but the road is still slippery with a lot of snow. We are holding off on plowing the runway for the moment. If we plowed the runway with this amount of snow, we would have furrows that would be 5-6 feet high on both sides of the runway resulting in a longer runway closure and liability issues. We had this same scenario during a series of snowstorms in November 1985. We plowed the runway then and it resulted in a 5-week closure. With that said, we are not plowing the runway until the accumulated snow melts to 10 inches or less. We feel this is the best course of action and will have the best and fastest results to getting the runway back to being usable and safe. We will remove the “Runway Closed NOTAM when the runway is plowed and open.
Thanks for your patience and understanding! Airport Management.
